Job Details:
Constructs and maintains departmental databases for the continual monitoring of clinical data to identify opportunities for organizational improvement. The successful candidate in this new position supporting the Geriatrics team must have the ability to work well independently, be a self-starter, and be someone who enjoys thinking outside the box.
1. Identifies need for data to make changes and improvements in clinical processes focusing on existing data sources. Translates data needs into database queries for retrieval and reporting.
2. Develops, maintains and improves the structure of those databases and the processes for extracting data.
3. Constructs, innovates and maintains departmental databases using database software.
4. Validates results integrity and formulates preliminary results. Analyzes and reports data in formats that promote good institutional decision-making.
5. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in health care, computer science, management engineering or a related field, with 3 years of related experience required.
Knowledge of database programs required (E.g. Filemaker Pro, Access, Excel, BrioQuery, Brio Plus).
Experience with data reporting and display a plus.
Experience and/or aptitude with basic programming interface/ Boolean principles of logic preferred.
Strengths in creative problem solving as it relates to analyzing, reporting and displaying clinical data.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required to communicate with users and to understand user needs.
Knowledge and experience with quality improvement processes highly desirable.
